Married Engineer Arrested in Rape Case After Woman Files Complaint
A 44-year-old married man, identified as Vishal Deshpande, was arrested by the Beltarodi police station on Monday after a 34-year-old woman filed a complaint accusing him of rape. Deshpande, an engineer by profession, was taken into custody as the charges were put against him.
According to the police, Deshpande had connected with the woman, who works as a sales representative at a private firm, through a social media platform. The two individuals met at a local diner in May and thereafter decided to proceed to a hotel where they engaged in a physical meeting. At the time, they even considered marriage, but Deshpande eventually withdrew from the relationship and stopped all communication with the woman.
Feeling betrayed and ignored by Deshpande, the woman made the decision to report him to the authorities after he started avoiding her phone calls. The Pachpaoli police were able to apprehend a separate suspect named Yogesh Meshram for a motorbike theft on Friday, thanks to the assistance of CCTV cameras installed by MahaMetro and the civic body on the city's roads.
As the investigation progresses, the accused will face legal proceedings in accordance with the charges filed against him. The police are determined to ensure justice for the victim and to maintain public safety in the community.
