Mercury Hits 36.5°C in City, Experts Predict More Heat in the Coming Weeks

The temperature in the city has been climbing steadily since the third week of February, and people are starting to feel the heat. On Sunday, the city reached a maximum temperature of 36.5°C, well above normal for this time of year. Experts predict that temperatures could rise by another 2 to 3°C in the coming week, signalling the start of summer.
While it’s hot during the day, residents are getting some relief at night, as the temperature stays cool. However, nighttime temperatures have risen to 14.8°C, an increase of 1.5°C. Other areas nearby are also experiencing warmer weather. Brahmapuri was the hottest, reaching 37.2°C, while Akola recorded 36.7°C. Washim was the coolest at 33.4°C.
Other areas in the region are seeing the following temperatures: Chandrapur - 36.4°C, Wardha - 36.0°C, Amravati - 35.8°C, Yavatmal - 35.4°C, Buldhana - 35.0°C, Bhandara - 34.8°C, Gadchiroli - 34.6°C, and Gondia - 34.4°C.
The Regional Meteorological Centre says Vidarbha is experiencing clear skies, with temperatures rising by 2 to 4°C in many areas. Experts warn that the heat may become more uncomfortable by the end of the month. Currently, the temperature in the city is 4°C above the normal for this time of year.
