MIDC Police Arrest Two Men in Nagpur for Possession of Deadly Weapons

Nagpur, India: In two separate incidents, Nagpur’s MIDC Police arrested two men in Rajiv Nagar for carrying dangerous weapons in public areas. The arrests took place on October 25 and October 26, 2024, following proactive patrolling by the police in response to rising concerns about public safety.

On October 25 at approximately 4:30 PM, police officers noticed a man near Mother Mary School in Rajiv Nagar, brandishing an iron knife and threatening pedestrians. The police promptly detained the individual, identified as Ranjit Sohansingh Shahu, aged 42, a resident of Rajiv Nagar. Officers confiscated the iron knife, valued at ₹500.

In the early hours of October 26, around 3:30 AM, officers encountered another suspicious individual near the Zero Degree Bar in Rajiv Nagar. The man was detained and identified as Dilip Asaram Baghele, aged 35, also a resident of Rajiv Nagar. Police seized a knife from him, valued at ₹350.

Both men were found in possession of deadly weapons, violating the prohibitory orders currently in effect. MIDC Police registered cases against them under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Both suspects are currently in custody as the investigation continues.

The arrests were made under the direction of Additional Police Commissioner Shivajirao Rathod, with the support of Deputy Commissioner Lohit Matani and Assistant Commissioner Satishkumar Gurav. Officers Mahesh Chavan, Rajesh Varthi, Omprakash Khandate, Deepak Thakur, Sachin Sonawane, and Vivek Jhade played key roles in the successful operation.
