MIHAN Creates Over 1 Lakh Job Opportunity, Boosting Nagpur’s Economy

Nagpur, India: The MIHAN (Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur) project, which started nearly 20 years ago, is now providing jobs to thousands of people.

According to the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), more than 1.07 lakh people have got jobs through the project. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced this, and MADC confirmed the numbers.

Job Details in MIHAN

  • Direct jobs: 38,248 in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Non-SEZ areas
  • Indirect jobs: 68,775 through different companies

Most of these jobs are in IT companies, while manufacturing is still developing.

Biggest Employers in MIHAN

  • HCL – 18,000 jobs
  • TCS – 16,000 jobs (plus 5,500 in a new facility)
  • Tech Mahindra – 1,250 jobs
  • Tata Advanced Systems – 6,800 jobs
  • Infosys – 8,800 jobs
  • Hexaware – 3,500 jobs
  • Lupin Pharmaceuticals – 8,600 jobs
  • Air India Engineering Services – 7,300 jobs

Manufacturing Yet to Grow

While IT jobs are growing, factories and manufacturing plants are still catching up. The Patanjali plant, meant for local agricultural products, is not running at full capacity. Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) has started making aircraft parts but is still in the early stages.

With more companies coming in, MIHAN is expected to boost Nagpur’s economy and create even more jobs in the future.
