Mist Cooling System at Nagpur Railway Station to Help Passengers Beat the Heat

Nagpur, 11 April 2025: As summer temperatures in the city climb above 45°C, Central Railway has resumed the mist cooling system at Nagpur Railway Station from 8 April to help passengers stay cool while waiting on platforms.

The mist cooling system works by spraying a fine mist of water into the air through high-pressure pumps and special nozzles. As the mist evaporates, it cools the surrounding area by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, creating a more pleasant environment for commuters.

This eco-friendly and energy-efficient system is especially useful on large open platforms, where traditional air conditioning is not possible. It uses microfilters to prevent the nozzles from clogging, ensuring smooth and low-maintenance operation. The system is fully automated and fitted into the station’s existing structure, requiring no extra space.

In addition to reducing heat, the mist also helps clear dust and particles from the air, improving the overall air quality at the station. Passengers can now enjoy a cooler and cleaner waiting area, even during the peak of summer.

With this move, Central Railway is making efforts to ensure a more comfortable travel experience for thousands of daily passengers at Nagpur Railway Station.
