MSEDCL Uncovers 23 Cases of Power Theft in One Day in North Nagpur
Nagpur, India: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) found 23 cases of power theft in North Nagpur on Monday. The company focused on areas with high electricity use but low bill payments, leading them to suspect theft.
The team checked homes in the Ekta Colony area near Kamptee Road. They found that 18 houses had illegally reconnected electricity through hooks, even though their power had been cut off due to unpaid bills. At five other homes, technicians discovered that the electricity meters had been tampered with to show lower usage while the residents were using more power.
The inspection was supported by the police to prevent any trouble from locals. Senior MSEDCL officials, including Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke, supervised the operation.
