Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway to Open New 76-Km Stretch by End of February

The Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway will soon open a 76-kilometre stretch between Igatpuri and Amane. This new section will be ready by the end of February, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to officially open it in March.
The final work on the expressway, including lane marking and painting, is scheduled to be completed by February 25-27. Once finished, the stretch will be open to the public. The inauguration will depend on the availability of the Chief Minister and other officials.
The expressway, which is already open from Igatpuri to Nagpur, covers 625 kilometres. The 76-km stretch from Igatpuri to Amane was delayed, but it will now be launched in full. The expressway, named Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, is 701 km long and has been opened in phases since December 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the first 520-km stretch, and CM Shinde opened the 105-km section from Shirdi to Bharvir in May 2023.
The expressway also connects with the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway, improving travel between Mumbai, Nashik, and Gujarat. For now, a temporary arrangement helps traffic move between the Mumbai-Nashik Highway and the Samruddhi Expressway.
The project started in February 2019, and the toll collection will continue for the next 40 years. However, there are still concerns about the lack of food courts and rest areas along the route for long-distance travellers.
