Murder in Koradi: Accidental Death Revealed as Intentional Killing

An incident initially classified as an accidental death on the railway track behind Salfiyabad locality in Koradi four months ago has now been determined to be a murder. The Koradi Police have filed charges against two individuals for the killing of 22-year-old Shaikh Ashpak Shaikh Mushtaq, with the motive believed to be their presumption that he was a police informant.

The identified suspects are Aslam Khan Jamshed Khan (34) of Plot No. 131, Kale Layout, Om Nagar, and Shaikh Mohsin Shaikh Musa alias Baba Tiger (26) of Gittikhadan. Shaikh Ashpak and Aslam Khan were discovered critically injured on the Nagpur-Delhi railway track behind Salfiyabad in the Koradi Police Station area around 12:45 pm on July 30. Shaikh Ashpak was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mayo Hospital, while Aslam Khan, who sustained severe injuries, was transferred to Government Medical College & Hospital.

During Aslam Khan's medical treatment, the police recorded his statement, leading to the registration of a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Subsequent investigations revealed that Shaikh Ashpak had a dispute with Aslam Khan and Shaikh Mohsin, who were allegedly harassing him. The accused had extorted Rs 25,000 from Shaikh Ashpak on July 28, branding him a police informer, and were subsequently demanding Rs 1 lakh in cash under life threats.

Upon Shaikh Ashpak's refusal to meet their demands, the suspects took him to the railway track, assaulted him with stones, and engaged in a scuffle. During the altercation, Aslam Khan sustained injuries. The perpetrators then seized Shaikh Ashpak, slamming his head against a train, resulting in his death. Based on eyewitness accounts, the police filed charges under Sections 302, 364A, 386, 182, and 34 of the IPC against Aslam Khan and Shaikh Mohsin.
