Nagpur, Hudkeshwar: 21-Year-Old Arrested for Robbing Elderly Man of ₹1.85 Lakh

Nagpur, India: Nagpur police have arrested a 21-year-old man for robbing an elderly person of gold jewellery and cash worth ₹1.85 lakh.
The robbery took place on March 19 between 5:40 pm and 5:55 pm at Jawahar Nagar, Hudkeshwar. The accused forcibly took a gold chain with a locket and a purse containing ₹5,000 from 82-year-old Mahendrakumar Ramlalji Verma. Verma, who is wheelchair-bound, was alone at home when the incident occurred.
Verma’s daughter, Adv. Meena Mahendrakumar Verma (62), filed a complaint with the Hudkeshwar police, who immediately registered a case. The police examined footage from 70 CCTV cameras in the area, which helped them identify the accused.
The suspect, identified as Omprakash Dumdev Nikore (21), a resident of Om Nagar, Sakkardara, was arrested near Prashant Bar on Manewada Road. During questioning, Nikore admitted to the crime. The police recovered the stolen gold chain and cash, valued at ₹1.85 lakh.
The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, and DCP Rashmita Rao. The team, led by PI Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar, included officers Omprakash Bhalavi, Gopal Deshmukh, Sandeep Patil, Santosh Sontakke, Chetan Vaidya, and Dinesh Gadekar.
