Nagpur ACB Arrest Assistant Police Inspector Taking ₹2 Lakh Bribe

Nagpur, India: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught Assistant Police Inspector Premanand Dadarao Katre from Koradi Police Station red handed while accepting a ₹2 lakh bribe on February 5. He allegedly demanded the bribe to resolve a complaint about a fraudulent agricultural land sale in Mouza Kawtha, Kamptee Taluka.

ACB sources revealed that a 42 year old resident of Nagpur had lodged a complaint at Koradi Police Station about fraud and forgery in the sale of jointly owned agricultural land. However, instead of acting on the complaint, the accused officer allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh to arrange a settlement.

After the complainant reported the incident to the ACB on February 4, officials set up a trap. On February 5, during the operation, Katre was caught red handed at Koradi Police Station while accepting the bribe in front of witnesses. The full amount was seized on the spot.

During a search of the accused officer, an additional ₹300 in cash was found. ACB officials also began searching Katre’s residence, which is still ongoing. His mobile phone has been seized for further investigation.

A case is being filed against the officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation is still ongoing.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Digambar Pradhan, SP of ACB Nagpur, and Additional SP Sanjay Purandare. Deputy SP Roshan Yadav oversaw the operation, while Police Inspector Preeti Shende led the trap and investigation team.

The ACB team included Police Inspector Nilesh Urkude, Hawaldars Bhagwat Wankhede and Bharat Thakur, Constable Hemraj Gajre, Woman Constable Dipali Bhagat, and Constable Vijay Solanke. The Nagpur ACB Division is focused on stopping corruption and ensuring public servants are held accountable.
