Nagpur Airport Runway Work Nears Completion, GMR to Take Over in April

Nagpur, India: The recarpeting of Nagpur Airport’s runway is almost complete, with the second layer finished and the third layer set to start in two weeks. Some delays have happened due to VIP landings, but the work is still moving forward.
Airport officials say that if work had gone on without breaks, the project could have been done by the end of February. However, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has promised to complete it by March 31. In fact, at the current speed, it might even be finished a little earlier. The new layers have made the runway smoother and safer for flights.
Once the work is done in March, Mihan India Limited (MIL) will complete paperwork to hand over the airport to GMR in April officially. This is a big step in making Nagpur Airport better and bringing it up to international standards.
GMR, which runs several big airports in India, plans to expand flight operations in Nagpur. One major project includes building a second runway, which will be 4,000 meters long and 60 meters wide, inside the MIHAN area. There is also land set aside for the Nagpur Flying Club, which will help in pilot training.
With these improvements, Nagpur Airport will soon have better facilities, more flights, and improved services for passengers.
