Nagpur Businessman Loses ₹24 Lakh to Theft While Attending Birthday Party

Nagpur, India: A businessman in Nagpur faced a huge loss after thieves broke into his house while he was attending a birthday party. The burglars stole jewellery worth ₹24.53 lakh.
The victim, 52-year-old Anil Ramchand Ochal, lives in Suryanagar under Kalamna Police Station’s area. He runs a grain business in Itwari and Kalamna. On Saturday night, he and his family went to a relative’s birthday party at a restaurant on Umred Road.
At around 10 PM, Ochal locked his house and left. However, while he was away, an unknown thief opened a sliding window, entered the house, and went straight to the second floor. The burglar broke the bedroom cupboard’s lock and stole gold and platinum jewellery with diamonds before escaping.
When Ochal and his family returned home at 1 AM, they found the house ransacked and immediately informed the police. The police and Crime Branch officers arrived at the scene and checked CCTV footage. The footage showed a thief entering the house around midnight.
Police believe the thief had studied the house in advance, as he knew exactly where to go. A case has been registered, and police are working to find the suspect using CCTV footage.
