Nagpur Crime Branch Arrests 26-Year-Old for Carrying Sharp Knife in Gittikhadan

Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 05 arrested a man in possession of a deadly weapon in the Gittikhadan area while he was allegedly planning a crime. The operation took place on 15 February 2025, between 3:40 PM and 4:15 PM, after police received a tip-off from a confidential informant.  

Officers were patrolling when they received information about a suspect near Surendragarh, close to Mahakal Enterprises, who was reportedly carrying a sharp weapon with criminal intent. Acting swiftly, the police team reached the location and detained the individual.  

During the search, officers recovered a large iron knife worth ₹500 from the suspect. He was identified as Azim alias Abbu Kabir Beg, 26, a resident of Surendragarh, staying on rent at Patel’s house in Gittikhadan, Nagpur.  

As he was found with a deadly weapon and had violated a prohibition order, a case was registered against him at Gittikhadan Police Station under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused was arrested, and the weapon was seized.  

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhijeet Patil. The arrest was executed by PI Rahul Shire and his team.
