Nagpur Crime Branch Arrests Accused with MD Powder Worth ₹6.57 Lakh in Nandanvan
Nagpur, India: In a joint operation conducted by Crime Branch Unit 5 and the Anti-Narcotics Squad, a man was arrested in possession of MD powder worth ₹6.57 lakh. The operation took place on 22nd January 2025, between 7:45 PM and 10:30 PM, near Galli No. 3, Kabristan, Hasanbagh, under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station.
The accused, identified as Mujaffar Amjan Ali (48), a resident of Nazrana Bichayat Centre, Hasanbagh, was apprehended after being found on a Royal Enfield motorcycle without a number plate. Upon searching, the police discovered 52 grams of MD powder in his possession.
In addition to the drugs, the police seized ₹6,000 in cash, a mobile phone, the Royal Enfield motorcycle, and a Suzuki Burgman Street scooter. The total value of the confiscated items is ₹6.57 lakh.
According to officials, the accused was allegedly carrying the MD powder with the intention of selling it for financial gain. A case has been registered against him under sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner Abhijit Patil.
The team included officers and personnel from Crime Branch Unit 5 and the Anti-Narcotics Squad, led by PI Gajanan Gulhane, API Manoj Ghurde, PSI Rahul Rothe, and other officers. Further investigations are underway.
