Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 4 Busts Gambling Racket; 16 Arrested, ₹5.35 Lakh Seized
Nagpur, India: In a significant operation, the Crime Branch Unit 4 officers uncovered an illegal gambling racket on December 4, 2024. Acting on credible information, the police conducted a raid between 4:25 pm and 6:30 pm in the Wathoda Police Station jurisdiction. The gambling activities were taking place in an open area behind Ayo Royal King in Khedi, where participants were involved in rooster-fighting bets.
During the operation, the police arrested 16 individuals engaged in the illegal activity. The items seized included four roosters, four knives, ₹10,900 in cash, 17 mobile phones, five two-wheelers, and other paraphernalia. The total value of the seized items was estimated at ₹5,35,300.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act at Wathoda Police Station. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner Rahul Makanikar. 0
The raid was led by PI Kamalakar Gaddime, with active participation from PSI Barange, Avinash Jaybhaye, Sunil Thawkar, Roshan Tiwari, Ajay Yadav, Purushottam Kalmegh, Nazir Shaikh, Nitin Verma, and others. Investigations are ongoing to uncover additional links to the gambling network. This operation highlights the police’s commitment to curbing illegal activities in the city.
