Nagpur District Collector Declares School and College Holiday on July 22

Due to the continuous heavy rains battering the region, Nagpur's District Collector, Dr. Vipin Itankar, has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Monday, July 22, 2024. This closure includes schools, colleges, and coaching classes to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Nagpur has been experiencing relentless heavy rainfall over the past few days, causing significant waterlogging in many areas. The Meteorological Department has predicted further heavy rains, increasing the risk of flooding and making travel hazardous, particularly for school children.

He also advised residents to stay indoors as much as possible and to avoid unnecessary travel. Parents were urged to keep their children safe at home and to refrain from allowing them to engage in outdoor activities.

Educational institutions across Nagpur have supported the decision, recognizing the importance of safeguarding students. Schools and colleges have already informed students and parents about the holiday and provided safety guidelines for the rainy conditions.

The district administration and disaster management teams are on high alert, prepared to respond to any emergencies caused by the heavy rains. Rescue and relief teams have been positioned strategically to address any incidents of flooding or waterlogging.

As Nagpur braces for more heavy rains, the decision to declare a holiday for educational institutions highlights the proactive steps taken by the district administration to ensure the safety of its residents. The authorities remain dedicated to managing the situation effectively and providing necessary support to those affected by the adverse weather conditions.
