Nagpur Bench of High Court Issues Contempt Notice to Inspector for Ignoring Court Order
Nagpur, India: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has issued a contempt notice to Vishal Giri, Police Inspector of Khamgaon Police Station, for violating two court orders. He has been directed to submit an explanation by January 6 and to appear in person on January 8.
The contempt notice was issued by Justices Nitin Sambre and Vrushali Joshi in connection with a case involving the return of two trucks and a Pokeland machine to contractor Vinod Gupta. The court had issued orders on August 14 and October 9, 2024, which Inspector Giri failed to comply with.
Gupta's lawyer, Advocate Ashwin Ingole, brought this non-compliance to the court's attention, alleging that Inspector Giri had intentionally violated the court's directives. After reviewing the matter, the court found merit in the claim and issued the contempt notice.
The court further observed that Giri's failure to comply with the orders appeared deliberate.
