Nagpur Hoopsters Gear Up for the 48th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship in Puducherry
Five talented young basketball players from Nagpur are gearing up to participate in the 48th edition of the Sub-Junior (U-13) National Basketball Championship in Puducherry from August 3 to 9. The championship, organized by the Basketball Federation of India, will witness young athletes from all over the country showcasing their natural talent and determination.
The Nagpur boys' team won the Sub-Junior State Basketball Championship held in Pune, while the girls' team exhibited admirable skills despite falling short in the quarter-final stage. Impressed by their performance, the Maharashtra Basketball Association organized a preparatory camp for the potential players of Maharashtra, which was held in Pune. From this camp, five players from Nagpur were selected to represent the state in the upcoming national championship. These players are Om Raut, Sarvesh Kavishwar, Aniruddha Mundhada, Urjit Deogade, and Niharika Deoghare.
Om Raut member of Dharam Peth Krida Mandal, Sarvesh Kavishwar is a member of the Nagpur amateurs sports association, Aniruddha Mundhada, and Urjit Deogade is member of Shivaji nagar gymkhana is associated with various sports clubs in Nagpur, while Niharika Deoghare is a member of the Spartan Basketball Club and is being trained by Pranay Bhagat. The announcement of the selection brought joy to the Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA), with the association's President, Sandip Joshi, and Secretary, Bhavesh Kuchanwar, congratulating the young athletes.
