Nagpur Journalist Accused of Demanding ₹10 Lakh Bribe from RTO Officer

Nagpur, India: A senior journalist, Sunil Suklal Hajare,from Nagpur has been accused of demanding a bribe of ₹10 lakh from an officer at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). Hajare, 44, who is a resident of Rahul Residency near the ST Bus Stand in Nagpur and works with Dainik Bhaskar, was allegedly caught in the act while accepting a bribe.

The complaint against Hajare was lodged by Dhanraj alias Titu Sadhu Ram Sharma, a 55-year-old RTO agent from Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Sugat Nagar, Nagpur. Sharma claimed that Hajare had demanded a total of ₹1.80 lakh from him, of which ₹1 lakh was paid on August 28, 2024. On August 30, 2024, Hajare was allegedly caught by Sadar Police while accepting the remaining ₹80,000.

Following the complaint, Sadar Police set up a sting operation and apprehended Hajare during the transaction, with witnesses present. A case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing to uncover any further details and possible involvement of other individuals in the matter.
