FIR Pending: Nagpur Man, Brother-in-Law Attacked Over Land Dispute in Gokulpeth

Nagpur, India: A deadly attack took place on 20th March 2025 on Avinash Deorao Kolte and his brother-in-law, Abhijit Samarth, in Gokulpeth. Both victims were seriously injured and are currently admitted to a private hospital. Ambazari Police yet to register FIR in this case.
According to Kolte, he and his former business partner, Sanjay Mahadeorao Dhabekar, have been involved in a court dispute over land dealings for a long time. Kolte had made several attempts to settle the matter peacefully, but Dhabekar had filed multiple false complaints against him with the police.
On 19th March 2025, Dhabekar contacted Kolte and expressed his desire to resolve the issue and withdraw the court cases. Kolte agreed, and the next day, Dhabekar asked him to meet at his lawyer, Advocate Masodkar’s office in Gokulpeth, at 1:30 PM. Kolte went to the meeting around 1:55 PM along with his brother-in-law, Abhijit Samarth.
Upon arrival, Advocate Masodkar, Advocate Prakash Warjukar, and Dhabekar were also present. During the discussion, Dhabekar demanded ₹1.25 crore from Kolte to withdraw the cases and settle the dispute permanently. Kolte refused the demand, which led to a violent altercation.
In a sudden act of aggression, Dhabekar attacked Abhijit Samarth with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds. Kolte intervened and tried to stop him, allowing Abhijit, who was seriously injured, to escape. Meanwhile, Advocate Warjukar held Kolte from behind, and Advocate Masodkar struck Kolte on the head with an iron rod multiple times, causing severe head injuries and heavy bleeding.
Kolte claimed that despite being seriously injured, the attackers locked him inside the cabin and left. He was rescued after half an hour when the police arrived and was immediately taken to the hospital. Kolte suffered critical injuries that required 20 stitches, while Abhijit had multiple wounds on his face, neck, and near his eyes, requiring 80-90 stitches.
Shockingly, even after such a serious incident, Kolte alleges that the police have not taken any action against the accused — Dhabekar, Advocate Masodkar, and Advocate Warjukar. No arrests have been made so far.
Kolte has appealed to the authorities to take immediate action against the culprits, stressing that justice should be served without further delay.
