Nagpur Man Arrested for Brutal Iron Rod Assault on Live-In Partner
Nagpur, India: A violent fight in a live-in relationship led to a shocking assault late Monday night in the Hudkeshwar area. The man was disturbed by ongoing disputes, went to the woman’s parents’ house, broke the door and attacked her multiple times with an iron rod. Police have registered a case against the accused, Nitesh Shankar Sonawane, 29, from Shrihari Nagar, Manewada, following the woman’s complaint.
According to the police, the victim, a 39-year-old woman, was previously married in 2009. She left her husband due to alcohol abuse and harassment, moving back to her parents with her daughter. Nitesh, a friend of her brother, frequently visited and the two developed a romantic relationship. They have lived together for the past eight years and have two daughters.0
Tension arose recently when Nitesh quit his job two months ago and remained at home, leading to financial strain. When the woman urged him to seek employment, an argument was raised and Nitesh eventually moved back in with his family. On Monday night, Nitesh allegedly called her, accusing her of infidelity. He arrived at her parents’ house around 11:30 p.m., forced entry, and assaulted her with an iron rod, inflicting injuries on her legs and head.
Family members and police arrived quickly, and Nitesh was taken into custody. The woman is receiving treatment at a local hospital, while police continue their investigation.
