Nagpur Man Arrested for Defrauding ₹3.29 Lakh in Fake Job Scam
Nagpur, India: Jaripatka police have charged Durgaprasad Swain, also known as Raja, with allegedly scamming a tea shop owner, Naresh Kanoje, out of ₹3.29 lakh. Kanoje, a resident of Khaparkheda, was searching for a job for his younger brother when he met Raja near a tea stall at Nara Ghat.
Raja, pretending to be a driver for a senior officer at the Koradi Thermal Power House, promised Kanoje that he could secure a job for his brother through his connections with officials. Raja demanded ₹24 lakh for the process. Between September 5 and October 11, Kanoje paid him ₹3.29 lakh in cash and via online transfers.
When the job for Kanoje’s brother did not materialize, Raja began making excuses. Growing suspicious, Kanoje inquired at the power house and discovered that Raja was not employed there as a driver. He then lodged a complaint with Jaripatka police, who have now registered a case of fraud against Raja.
