Nagpur Pan Stall Owner Consumes Poison Outside MLA’s House After NMC Action

Nagpur, India: A pan stall owner, identified as Robert Francis, attempted suicide by consuming poison outside an MLA’s residence in Pratap Nagar on Wednesday. The incident occurred after the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) took action against his stall, allegedly leaving him in distress.

According to reports, Robert had been running a pan stall in the area, but a recent NMC crackdown led to its removal. Struggling to cope with the situation, he reportedly fell into depression and consumed poison outside the MLA’s house in protest.

He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical, and further updates are awaited.

Authorities are investigating the matter, while the incident has sparked discussions on the impact of encroachment drives on small business owners.
