Nagpur Police Arrest 28-Year-Old Man with Drugs in Late-Night Operation

Nagpur, India: During a late-night patrol, the Anti-Narcotics Branch of the Nagpur Police arrested a 28-year-old man found with drugs near Mokhare College Road. The arrest took place between 11:15 PM on October 21 and 1:25 AM on October 22, within the jurisdiction of the Rana Pratap Nagar police station.

During their patrol, officers observed a suspicious individual, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, lingering on the public road in front of Ashok Thakre’s residence. Upon questioning, the individual identified himself as Nazeem Afzal Mirza, a 28-year-old resident of Mominabad Colony, Mangal Murti Layout, in Pandharkawda, Yavatmal district.

A search of his person uncovered 12 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder, valued at ₹1,20,000, concealed in a plastic press-lock bag in his jeans pocket. Additionally, a mobile phone was confiscated, raising the total value of the seized items to ₹1,30,000.

The police filed a case against the accused under sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act, leading to his arrest. The seized items, along with the accused, have been transferred to the Rana Pratap Nagar Police for further investigation.

This operation was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makinikar.

The successful operation was executed by the Anti-Narcotics team, headed by Inspector Ravindra Naikwad and Sub-Inspector Manoj Ghurde, along with officers Pawar Gajbhiye, Vijay Yadav, Vivek Adau, Anup Yadav, Arvind Gedekar, Rohit Kale, Sahadev Chikhale, and Raju Patil.
