Nagpur Police Bust Major MD Trafficking Ring with Tabrez Alam’s Arrest
Nagpur, India: The Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Crime Branch has arrested a wanted man involved in a major drug trafficking case. Tabrez Alam, also known as Tipu Afroz Alam, 33, was caught on Tuesday, December 3, near Naik Road, Mahal Fort, Nagpur.
The police set a trap to catch Alam, who had been on the run for months. During questioning, he admitted to his involvement in a case where MD (Mephedrone) powder was seized, and three other people were arrested. Alam was then handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further action.
The case dates back to June 18, 2024, when the police received a tip-off about drug trafficking on Umred Road. Officers stopped a grey Activa scooter (MH 31 FV 8427) and found 71.11 grams of MD powder. The total value of the drugs was ₹7,11,100. Along with the drugs, the police also seized four mobile phones, a weighing scale, ₹22,500 in cash, and the scooter.
Three people—Rohan Suresh Dhakulkar, Shubham Suresh Dhakulkar, and Vedant Vikas Dhakulkar—were arrested for their role in the crime. They revealed that they had been working under Alam’s orders to distribute the drugs. Based on this, Alam was declared a wanted man, leading to his arrest.
Alam and the others have been charged under the NDPS Act. Alam is still in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about the drug network.
