Nagpur Police Catch Man Selling Fake Cricket Tickets Near VCA Stadium
Nagpur, India: A man was arrested on Wednesday night by the Crime Branch Unit 5 of Nagpur Police for selling tickets illegally for India vs. England one-day cricket match on February 6 at the VCA Stadium, Sadar.
The police acted on a tip-off and caught the man, 29-year-old Mohammed Junaid Mohammed Jamaluddin, near Dolly's tea stall, opposite the stadium. He lives in Habib Nagar, Teka Naka, Nagpur.
During the search, the police found four tickets worth ₹40,000 that Jamaluddin was selling at higher prices for his own profit. They also seized his mobile phone and a Splendor bike (MH-31-FL-9988), valued at ₹79,000.
A case was registered against him at Sadar Police Station. The police have handed over the accused and the seized items for further investigation.
The operation was supervised by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singhal, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Maknikar, with the help of Senior Police Inspector Rahul Shire and his team.
