Nagpur Police Celebrate Holi with Colours and Joy for the First Time!

Holi, the festival of colours, is usually a time for joy and togetherness. However, for police officers, the festival often means long hours of duty, ensuring public safety rather than indulging in celebrations themselves. But this year, under the leadership of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, things were different. For the first time, a special Holi celebration was organised exclusively for police personnel and their families, allowing them to take a break from duty and enjoy the festivities.

The event took place on March 15, 2025, at 8:00 AM at the Police Headquarters Ground, where officers, their families, and even children joined in the celebration of colours. It was a rare occasion where ranks and responsibilities were set aside, replaced with vibrant hues and joyful laughter.

A Celebration of Togetherness

The police headquarters ground transformed into a lively spectacle as officers and their loved ones embraced the festive spirit. The air was filled with clouds of pink, green, and saffron, while the beats of music added to the excitement. Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, along with his wife, personally participated in the celebration, making it even more special for the officers.

Instead of maintaining law and order on the streets, the officers could finally relax, enjoy the moment, and strengthen their bonds with colleagues and family members. With colours smeared across their faces and wide smiles, it was a heartwarming sight of camaraderie and unity.

Balancing Duty and Festivities

Just a day before the celebrations, police officers had been tirelessly patrolling the city from 5 AM to midnight, ensuring that Holi festivities across Nagpur remained peaceful. The same officers who had worked round the clock to maintain order were now celebrating freely, swapping their batons for packets of gulal.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Dr. Singal highlighted the importance of mental well-being alongside duty. He expressed his happiness at seeing his officers enjoy Holi like never before, making this a historic moment for the Nagpur City Police. He assured that such initiatives would continue in the future to help reduce stress among officers.

Senior Officers Join the Festivities

The celebration witnessed the participation of several senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil, ACPs Shivaji Rathod, Pramod Shewale, DCPs Niketan Kadam, Ashwini Patil, Shweta Khedkar, Rahul Madne, and Shashikant Satav, along with various Assistant Commissioners of Police and Station House Officers.

A special guest at the event was Mrs. Vanita Singal, Principal Secretary (Environment), who travelled from Mumbai to Nagpur to be part of the unique celebration. The atmosphere was electric as officers, their families, and dignitaries danced and laughed, making this Holi an unforgettable experience.

The event concluded with refreshments for all, and a shared sentiment echoed among the attendees: "For the first time in our careers, we celebrated Holi like this. All thanks to Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal!"

This initiative proved that even within the demanding framework of police duty, there is always room for joy, unity, and the vibrant spirit of Holi.
