Nagpur Police Destroy ₹47 Lakh Worth of Banned Gutkha and Tobacco

Nagpur, India: In a major crackdown on illegal tobacco, Zone 5 police destroyed banned gutkha and tobacco worth ₹47.54 lakh on Friday. The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Niketan Kadam.
The seized items were collected from eight police station areas and taken to Bhandewadi dumping yard for disposal. Police officers opened the packets, poured water over them, and buried them in a deep pit to ensure they could not be used again.
The event took place at 4.30 pm in front of senior police officials, NGO members, and hundreds of school students to spread awareness about the dangers of banned tobacco.
The illegal products were seized from areas under Kalamna, Old Kamptee, New Kamptee, Pardi, Yashodhara Nagar, Jaripatka, Koradi, and Kapil Nagar police stations. A total of 58 cases were registered.
The disposal was approved by Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Singal and Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, with DCP Kadam supervising the process.
