Nagpur, India: On October 22, 2024, the Nagpur Police Commissioner ordered the detention of notorious criminal Yogesh Bante (52), under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act, 1981. Bante, a resident of Bhande Plot, Nagpur, has been involved in numerous serious crimes, including offences against persons and property across multiple police station jurisdictions in the city.

Bante has a history of violent offences such as attempted murder, armed robbery, and housebreaking, with cases registered at Sadar, Dhantoli, Gittikhadan, Panchpaoli, Nandanvan, Ajni, Ambazari, Sonegaon, Rana Pratap Nagar, Jaripatka, Sakkardara, and Hudkeshwar police stations. Despite previous preventive actions, including being extended in 2012 and detained under the MPDA Act in 2017, he continued his criminal activities.

Recently, Bante was involved in nighttime housebreaking, assault, and carrying deadly weapons in the Hudkeshwar area, prompting further police action. The Hudkeshwar Police submitted a proposal for his detention, which the Crime Branch approved. Upon review, the Police Commissioner ordered his immediate arrest, and Bante was placed in Nagpur Central Jail, with further arrangements being made to transfer him to Nashik Central Jail.

This action is part of Nagpur Police's ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and curb the activities of dangerous criminals.
