Nagpur Police Raid: Six Illegal Swords Seized, Five Arrested Including Minors

Nagpur, India: In the early morning of November 11, between 3:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m., the Kalamna Police carried out raids based on a tip-off and confiscated six illegal swords from the residences of three suspects and two juveniles. This action followed the circulation of videos on social media showing the individuals brandishing dangerous weapons.

Based on reliable information, police officers arrested Prashant Ramesh Chatte, 19, from Devi Nagar; Deepak Harikisan Nimkar, 19, from Ma Bamblewshwari Nagar, Kalmeshwar; and Piyush Atul Sakhare, 19, from the Kali Mata Temple area.

During the raid, the police recovered two swords from Prashant Chatte, one sword each from Deepak Nimkar and Piyush Sakhare, and one sword each from two juveniles, totaling six swords, with an estimated value of ₹15,500.

All three accused, along with the juveniles, were found to have violated the Nagpur City Assistant Commissioner’s order prohibiting weapons. As a result, a case has been filed at Kalamna Police Station under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The investigation into the source and purpose of the weapons is ongoing.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior Nagpur Police officials, including Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Pramod Shevale (North Zone), Deputy Commissioner Niketan Kadam, and Assistant Commissioner Vishal Kshirsagar (Kamptee Division).

The operation was led by Inspector Pravin Kale, Crime Inspector Satish Ade, and Sub-Inspector Santoshkumar Ramlod, with support from officers Deepak Dhanorkar, Chandrashekhar Yadav, Ravikumar Shahu, Sandeep Dhale, Magesh Lohi, and Santosh Pandey.
