Nagpur Police Seize 1.9 Kg MD Drug Worth ₹39,000, Two Arrested
Nagpur, India: Nagpur’s Crime Branch Unit 2 successfully arrested 2 individuals on October 25, 2024, for possession of marijuana drug, following a well-coordinated raid near the Central Transport Department Office in Gittikhadan. Acting on a tip-off, 3 individuals planned to sell marijuana at the location, police officers quickly mobilized a raid operation.
Around 9:30 PM, the police intercepted and detained two suspects, identified as Akash Jaygopal Khandekar and Sharad Ramuji Bhoyar, both 24 years old and residents of Badegaon, Nagpur. Upon searching the suspects and their two-wheeler, officers discovered 1.911 kg of marijuana valued at approximately ₹39,000.
Further questioning revealed that the suspects had acquired the marijuana from a wanted dealer, Ronny Rajput of Kisinga Yodisada, and had sold a portion to Aslam alias Bhuru Khan Dawood Khan from Nagpur’s Bhosale Nagar area. Authorities seized the marijuana, two mobile phones, and the suspects’ vehicle, totalling around ₹1,40,000 in assets.
The Gittikhadan Police have registered a case under sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii), and 29 of the NDPS Act. The detained suspects and seized items were handed over for further investigation, while efforts to apprehend the remaining wanted suspects are ongoing.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, and Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Patil, with PI Shubhangi Deshmukh and the dedicated team from Crime Branch Unit 2 leading the charge.
