Nagpur Police Seizes ₹6.53 Lakh Worth of Foreign Liquor in Jaripatka

Nagpur, India: Crime Branch Unit 3 arrested two men for illegally transporting foreign liquor in the Jaripatka area. Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint near Sai Mandir Square on 28th January 2025. They stopped a grey Tata Punch car (MH-32-AS-9985) and questioned the driver and his companion. The two men identified themselves as Amar Sunke (33) from Hinganghat, Wardha, and Rakesh Chandel (25), also from Hinganghat.  

When police checked the car’s boot, they found six boxes of foreign liquor. This included one box of O.C. Blue whisky with 48 bottles of 180ml each and five boxes of Royal Stag Whisky, each containing 48 bottles of 180ml.  

During questioning, the accused revealed that they worked for Avinath Navarkhede from Hinganghat, earning ₹10,000 per month. They said Avinath gave them the car and instructed them to transport the liquor from Oka Bar & Restaurant on Kamptee Road, Nagpur.  

Police seized the liquor and the vehicle, worth a total of ₹6.53 lakh, and registered a case under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The two accused have been handed over to Jaripatka police, while the search for Avinath Navarkhede and the bar owner is ongoing.  

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, and other senior officers. Several officers from Crime Branch Unit 3, including PI Mukund Thakre, API Navnath Devkate, and constables, were involved in the raid.
