Nagpur Police to Deploy 4,500 Personnel for Safe Ganpati Visarjan

Nagpur, India: To ensure a safe and orderly Ganpati Visarjan, Commissioner of Police Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal has outlined extensive security measures. The initiative includes deploying a special team of plainclothes officers to accompany each Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal procession.

A robust force of 4,500 police personnel will be on duty, including three Additional Commissioners of Police, 10 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 12 Assistant Commissioners of Police, and 300 other officers. Additionally, 1,300 Home Guards and a contingent from the State Reserve Police Force will assist in maintaining public order. The police will particularly focus on immersion sites at Koradi and Futala lakes.

Traffic Management Strategies

To manage traffic effectively, the Deputy Commissioner of the Traffic Branch, Shashikant Satav, will oversee the arrangements. Thirty officers and 600 personnel will be stationed along key routes leading to Koradi and Futala lakes. Ganesh Mandal organizers are urged to adhere to the scheduled immersion times specified in their applications. All police weekly holidays have been cancelled to facilitate effective operations.

Designated Immersion Routes

The police have outlined specific immersion routes for various zones:

  • Zone I and II: From Savarkar Nagar Square to Koradi Lake via Bharat Mata Square.
  • Zone II and IV: From Variety Square to Koradi Lake via Pagalkhana Square.
  • Zone III and IV: From Gandhisagar Lake to Koradi Lake via Camp Y Point.
  • Zone III: From Telephone Exchange Square to Koradi Lake via Pagalkhana Square.
  • Zone IV: From Automotive Square to Koradi Lake via Naik Lake.
  • Futala Artificial Lake: From Variety Square to Futala Artificial Lake.

Immersion Schedule

The schedule for Ganpati idol immersions is as follows:

  • Koradi: 150 idols
  • Kolar: 704 idols
  • Mauda: 84 idols
  • Vena River: 54 idols
  • Mahadev Ghat: 64 idols
  • Futala Lake: 106 Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal (artificial lakes)

Immersion dates are:

  • September 16: 13 idols
  • September 17: 614 idols
  • September 18: 450 idols
  • September 19: 200 idols
  • September 20: 200 idols

These measures aim to ensure a smooth and secure Ganpati Visarjan, balancing effective crowd control and traffic management.
