Nagpur Railway Police Arrest Mobile Thief, Recover 7 Stolen Phones
Nagpur: The Railway Police in Nagpur have arrested a notorious mobile thief, Harilal Dindayal Kanaujia, and recovered seven stolen mobile phones worth over Rs 1.29 lakh. Kanaujia, who has a history of theft-related arrests, was apprehended after a passenger filed a complaint about his stolen mobile phone.
During the investigation, the police discovered that another passenger's phone had also been stolen. Acting swiftly, they detained Harilal at the railway station. Upon interrogation, Harilal admitted to stealing seven mobile phones.
A search revealed mobile phones from various brands, valued at Rs 1,29,500, in his possession. It was found that Harilal had been arrested eight times in the past for similar thefts and was recently released from jail. He had been sentenced for a theft case in 2024 and was freed on January 29, 2025, only to resume his criminal activities.
The police are now working to trace the owners of the recovered phones.
