Nagpur Railway Station to Face Disruptions for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din
Nagpur, India: Passengers travelling through Nagpur Railway Station between October 11 and 13 should prepare for disruptions as the railway administration implements special measures for the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din rush. During this period, the car-to-coach service on the east side of the station will be closed, and parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers on the west side will be prohibited. Pick-up and drop-off services will also be suspended for three days, as announced by Central Railway’s Nagpur Division.
These changes are being made to manage the large number of devotees visiting Deekshabhoomi for the celebrations. In addition, the station, which is undergoing major redevelopment, will see new temporary entrances on both the east and west sides. Traffic congestion around the station and limited parking spaces are expected to add to the inconvenience for passengers.
Passengers using metro services from the east gate will face further difficulties at platform number 8, where there is no ramp access. Instead, a makeshift staircase with 35 steps leads to the footbridge, posing challenges for elderly passengers, those with disabilities, and people carrying heavy luggage.
At Ajni Railway Station, platforms 2 and 3 will remain closed for 90 days due to ongoing redevelopment work, with an expected reopening in December. Devotees heading to Deekshabhoomi can still deboard at Ajni, but passengers are advised to board trains from platform 8 at Nagpur Railway Station, where additional services will be available to handle the expected crowds during the event.
