Nagpur Records Season’s Coldest Morning with 11.7°C
Nagpur, India: The ongoing winter season is making its presence felt in Nagpur, as the city experienced its coldest morning of the season on Wednesday, with the minimum temperature dropping to 11.7°C. This marks Nagpur as the coldest place in Vidarbha for the second consecutive day.
The chill is evident not only in the nights but also during the daytime. The maximum temperature has been steadily declining by 0.5°C daily, with Nagpur recording a daytime high of 30°C on Wednesday.
Northerly Winds Bring a Sharp Drop in Temperatures
Strong northerly winds from northern India are pushing the mercury down in Vidarbha and central India earlier than usual. Such winds typically dominate December and January, but this year, their impact is being felt in November itself.
Nagpur’s minimum temperature is currently 2.9°C below normal for this time of year. For the first time in almost a week, the city’s maximum temperature dropped below the 30°C mark. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that while minimum temperatures in Vidarbha will stay above 11°C for the rest of November, the wind chill factor will continue to dominate.

Other regions in Vidarbha also felt the chill on Wednesday:
- Gondia recorded 11.9°C, making it the second coldest place in Vidarbha.
- Brahmapuri was third, with a minimum of 12.3°C.
- Other districts like Akola, Bhandara, and Chandrapur recorded minimum temperatures above 13°C.
- Amravati was the warmest, with a minimum of 14.1°C.
Daytime Highs Across the Region
Daytime temperatures varied across Vidarbha:
- Brahmapuri recorded the highest maximum temperature at 31.8°C.
- Buldhana was the coolest during the day, with a maximum of 28°C, followed by Bhandara (28.4°C) and Gondia (28.6°C).
- Other districts, including Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Wardha, saw highs above 29°C.
The early onset of winter-like conditions has brought relief and a festive chill to the region, with residents embracing cooler mornings and pleasant days.
