Nagpur Schools Closed Amid Heavy Rain Alert: District Collector's Orders
Nagpur, India- Due to heavy rainfall since the early morning of July 12, Nagpur District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar has announced that all schools in the district will be closed on July 20, 2024.
A letter from the District Information Officer (DIO) confirms that both city and rural schools in Nagpur will be closed because of the severe weather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain in Nagpur and nearby districts. The warning states, "Thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall are expected in most parts of Bhandara, Chandrapur, Nagpur, and Wardha districts of Vidarbha."
Additionally, the IMD noted, "Thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain are likely in some areas of Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Yavatmal, and in isolated places in the Amravati district of Vidarbha."
