Nagpur South-West Records 54.49% Voter Turnout, 4% Higher Than 2019
The Nagpur South-West Assembly constituency witnessed a notable voter turnout of 54.49% on Wednesday, marking a 4% increase from the 2019 elections. The final tally is yet to be confirmed as the district administration compiles the last figures.
This election saw a surge in participation compared to previous polls. In 2014, the constituency recorded a turnout of 56.4%, which dropped to 50.5% in 2019. The increase this year reflects growing voter engagement in the region.
Polling began at 7 AM, with an initial turnout of 8.92% by 9 AM. By 11 AM, the figure rose to 19.91%, climbing to 31.12% by 1 PM and 41.76% by 3 PM. By 5 PM, the turnout had reached 51.54%, showing a steady and consistent voting trend throughout the day.
Strong voter turnout contributed significantly to the overall numbers in localities such as Jaitala, Subhash Nagar, HB Estate, Sahakar Nagar, and Khamla.
The polling process was conducted peacefully, with no major incidents reported. While some voters faced challenges with missing names on the electoral roll, polling officers promptly assisted them to ensure they could cast their votes.
The constituency, witnessing a direct contest between Congress’ Praful Gudadhe and BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, showed promising participation, adding to the overall positive trend in voter engagement for the Nagpur district.
