Nagpur Teen Kills Friend with Poisoned Drink, Tries to Extort Money from Family

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old boy in Nagpur killed his friend by giving him a cold drink mixed with poison. After the murder, he even tried to get money from the victim’s family by leaving a ransom note. The incident happened in Neelkanth Nagar, under Hudkeshwar police station.

The victim was 17-year-old Vedant alias Vijay Kalidas Khandate. He had recently finished his Class 12 board exams. His father, a technician, had sold their family farmland and received a large amount of money. The family had moved from Narsala to Neelkanth Nagar just a year ago.

Vedant’s friend, Mithilesh Chakole, also a Class 12 student, came from a poor background. He was jealous of Vedant’s wealth and planned to harm him. He knew Vedant’s family was kind and trusting. So he made a plan to kill Vedant and also demand money from the family.

On April 8, Mithilesh met Vedant at a roadside stall and offered him a cold drink. While Vedant was not looking, Mithilesh mixed cockroach poison in it. Vedant drank the cold drink and went home. Soon after, he started vomiting. His family took him to a hospital in Sakkardara, where his condition became serious.

Two days later, on April 10, Vedant’s father found a letter on their car. It asked for ransom money, referring to the money from the farmland sale. The note asked the family to drop the money at a roadside eatery. The family informed the police immediately.

At first, police thought it was an accidental death or possibly suicide. Mithilesh had also drunk a little of the cold drink but was fine, which confused investigators. But after Vedant died and the post-mortem report confirmed poisoning, police became more suspicious.

After more questioning, Mithilesh finally admitted the truth. He said he killed Vedant because he was jealous of his wealth and wanted to get money from the family.

The police have registered a murder case and are continuing their investigation. The incident has shocked the city and raised questions about trust and friendships among young people.
