Nagpur Teen Ordered ‘Alaskan Ulu’ Knife from Russia to Take Her Own Life

Nagpur, India: Nagpur police are investigating the tragic suicide of a 17-year-old girl who had ordered a special knife from Russia weeks before taking her life. The knife, an Alaskan ulu, arrived at her home on 6 December last year, leading police to believe she had been planning the act for some time.

The girl, identified as Prajakta, lived in Chhatrapati Nagar with her family. Her mother had taken voluntary retirement after an accident, and the family moved to Nagpur from Mumbai in June last year. While Prajakta had many friends in Mumbai, she struggled to make new ones in Nagpur. She spent most of her time alone, using her mobile phone and playing video games. She was also interested in European culture and often researched it online.

Knife Purchase

Before her death, Prajakta had ordered an Alaskan ulu knife from Russia. This knife has a curved blade and a moose antler handle and is usually used for cutting and slicing food. However, police are unsure why she chose this knife for suicide.

Suicide Note in Two Languages

Prajakta left behind a suicide note written in both English and German. The English part did not clearly explain why she took this step. Police now work with German language experts to translate and understand the note.

The investigation found that Prajakta had five cuts on her body and a deep wound on her throat. Shockingly, she did not scream or make any noise while hurting herself, as her parents—who were in another room—heard nothing.

Police officers described the scene as one of the most disturbing they had ever seen, with blood covering a large area around her body.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to understand what led to this heartbreaking incident.
