Nagpur to have about 150 E-Buses now
Under the PM-E-Bus Scheme of the Housing and Urban Development Ministry of the Central Government, Nagpur will receive 150 E-buses and two charging stations. The Center has accepted the proposal that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation provided.
Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, proposed the suggestion. The proposal to include Nagpur as one of the locations where 10,000 E-Buses would be made available as part of the project has been accepted by the center.
The project is authorized for cities with a population of twenty to forty lakh people. Anchal Goel, an additional municipal commissioner, has made a significant contribution to the project concept.
Additionally accepted are the plans for the construction of the depots in Khapri and Koradi. There are 541 buses in Nagpur's fleet: 165 Standard buses that run on diesel, 150 Midi and 45 Mini buses, 70 CNG buses, and 111 E-buses.
The feasibility report for the 75 E-bus parking depots was turned in by NMC. The development of Khapri Depot has been sanctioned for Rs 6.37 crore and Koradi Deport for Rs 21.14 crore by the Center.
