Nagpur to Observe Holi and Rangpanchami with Tight Security, 100 Fixed Security Points Set Up

Nagpur, India: The city is preparing for the Holi and Rangpanchami celebrations, set for March 13 and March 14. The festivities will begin with ‘Holika Dahan’ at 999 locations across the city. To maintain peace during the celebrations, the city police are ready with 2,000 additional personnel positioned throughout Nagpur for security.

Last year, Holi was celebrated at 921 locations, but this year, the number has increased. Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal has instructed the Zonal DCPs to implement all preventive measures during the festival. So far, actions have been taken against 1,400 criminals, and the police are closely monitoring the activities of 26 criminal gangs under MCOCA.

During Rangpanchami, some people throw water balloons and harass women. The police have issued strict orders to arrest anyone caught troubling women. Damini squads will patrol areas near women’s hostels to ensure their safety. If citizens face any trouble, they can contact the Police Control Room by dialing 112 or 1091.

The Commissioner of Police has urged citizens to celebrate Holi with traditional excitement and to maintain law and order.

Security measures include:
• 2,000 police personnel on duty
• 1,300 Home Guards and State Reserve Police Force teams to assist officers
• 100 fixed security points set up
• Police blockades at key locations
• Patrolling near religious places to maintain peace during Rangpanchami
• Immediate detention of drunk drivers, with their vehicles seized
• Strict action against those throwing balloons or harassing women.
