Nagpur Traffic Police to Switch 14 Signals to Yellow Blinker Mode for Smooth Traffic Flow

Nagpur, India: To ease traffic movement and save fuel, the Nagpur Traffic Police have decided to switch 14 traffic signals to yellow blinker mode between 1 pm and 4 pm. This decision comes after the police observed that traffic flow is considerably light during these hours, making the use of signals unnecessary.

The 14 intersections where signals will be changed to yellow blinker mode are: Neeri T-point; Bajaj Nagar Square; Gajanan Shala T-point; Trisharan Square; Awari Square; Vijay Talkies T-point; Kannamwar Square; Ahinsa Square; Rajarani Square; Dharampeth Y-point; Ajit Bakery T-point; GPO Square; Mohd Rafi Square;10 Number Bridge

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic, Archit Chandak, explained that after analyzing traffic patterns, it was found that these spots experience very little traffic during the afternoon. “Since traffic is minimal, there’s no need for signals. By switching them to yellow blinker mode, we can reduce delays and improve traffic flow,” he said.

This move is also aimed at saving fuel by reducing the amount of time vehicles spend idling at red lights. “This will not only save fuel but also help in reducing congestion in these areas,” added DCP Chandak.

The change will be tested for one month, and the traffic police will monitor its effectiveness. This pilot program is part of a broader plan to make Nagpur’s roads more efficient for both drivers and pedestrians.
