Nagpur Woman Arrested for Attempting to Blackmail Rape Accused for Rs 25 Lakh
Nagpur, India: A 40-year-old woman, who had previously accused someone of rape, was arrested for attempting to blackmail the accused. She allegedly tried to extort Rs 25 lakh from him, offering to help him get released from the charges in exchange for the money.
The woman promised to withdraw all her accusations against the accused in exchange for the payment. Her accomplice, named Praveen Harde, is currently on the run.
Kishor Bure, a stenographer in a government department, was charged with rape following a complaint from the woman, who worked as an agent in the land revenue department.
A rape case was filed against Bure at the Ganeshpeth police station, and he was subsequently arrested. The woman initially asked Bure’s family for Rs 15 lakh in exchange for ensuring his release on bail, but her demand was refused by the family.
After Bure was granted bail, the woman and her accomplices began demanding Rs 25 lakh to withdraw the case. Frustrated by their demand, Bure filed a complaint against them at the Beltarodi police station.
