Nagpur Woman Detained for Allegedly Supplying Brown Sugar
The ongoing crackdown on drug peddling in the region has led to the detention of a woman from Nagpur, identified as Chitra Thakur, for her alleged involvement in supplying brown sugar. This development comes ten days after the arrest of two drug peddlers from Durg, who provided crucial information leading to her apprehension.
The Durg Police, acting on the revelations made by the arrested peddlers, undertook a swift operation to apprehend Chitra Thakur in Nagpur. The detained peddlers, Lucky Mahar (29) and Lalla Dheemar (24), both residents of Shivpara, Durg, were arrested while reportedly searching for customers to sell brown sugar. Subsequent investigations led the police to Nagpur, where Lucky Mahar identified Chitra Thakur as the supplier of the illicit substance.
Chitra Thakur, identified as the wife of Manoj Rahangdale and residing in Shanti Nagar near Itwari Railway Station, Nagpur, was promptly arrested by the Durg Police. The police seized several packets of brown sugar from the initial arrests in Durg, and based on Lucky Mahar's statement implicating Chitra as the source, further legal action was taken.
A case has been registered against Chitra Thakur and any other accomplices under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Following her arrest, Chitra Thakur was produced before the local court in Durg, which subsequently remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days.
