Nagpur Woman Jumps into Futala Lake with Her Son; Rescued by Youths

Nagpur, India: A woman and her four-year-old son were saved from drowning at Futala Lake on Monday, March 31, after she jumped into the water with him. A group of young men who were nearby noticed the incident and quickly jumped into the lake, pulling both to safety.
The woman, Kirti Kumbhare, and her son, Kiyansh, are now receiving treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
According to the police, Kirti’s husband, Manoj Kumbhare, works at a religious site, and the family lives in a rented house in Teka Naka. Kirti had been feeling stressed recently, but her husband didn’t notice the signs. Family tensions added to her mental stress.
On Monday, Kirti took her son from Teka Naka to Sitabuldi and then to Futala Lake. She sat by the lake for about an hour, thinking deeply. After a while, she picked up her son and jumped into the water.
Thanks to the quick actions of the young men nearby, both mother and child were rescued in time. Authorities are now investigating the situation and offering support to the family.
