Nagpur Youth Arrested for Harassing 14-Year-Old Girl

Nagpur, India: A 19-year-old man has been arrested by the Lakadganj police for allegedly harassing a 14-year-old girl, hurling stones at her home, and assaulting her father. The incident took place on Thursday, March 27.
The accused, identified as Tanmay Deorao Dhakate, reportedly began following the girl on her way to school. When she ceased communication with him, Dhakate allegedly retaliated by visiting her house and throwing stones at the door, causing a disturbance.
When the victim's parents intervened, Dhakate reportedly verbally abused them and physically attacked her father, threatening further violence.
In response to a complaint filed by the victim, the Lakadganj police have registered a case against Dhakate under several sections of the BNS, including 78, 125, 115(2), and 351(2), alongside relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
