Nagpur Youth Congress Leader Bunty Shelke Faces Atrocity Act Case
Nagpur, India: Bunty Shelke, National General Secretary of the Youth Congress, now faces Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following a complaint by Sanjay Meena, Chairman of the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).
The incident occurred on January 6, when Shelke led a protest at the NIT head office around 12:45 p.m., demanding action on various issues. The situation escalated as Shelke and his supporters were stopped by police and security guards at the NIT gate. In response, Shelke climbed the gate, raised slogans, and later addressed the media.
During his address, Shelke allegedly used abusive language and made casteist remarks against Meena. He also reportedly made threatening comments about attacking Meena's character. Meena, who learned about these remarks from media reports, filed a formal complaint later that day.
A case was subsequently registered against Shelke at Sadar Police Station. Interestingly, local Congress officials were absent from the protest, indicating internal differences within the party.
Authorities are investigating the allegations to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
