Nagpur Youth Congress Protests Dr. Mohan Bhagwat’s Statement on India’s Freedom
Nagpur, India: Youth Congress workers held a protest on Sunday against a statement made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat, claiming that India gained freedom the day Shri Ram was consecrated in Ayodhya.
Led by National President Uday Bhanu and State President Kunal Raut, the protest began after a meeting at Devadia Bhavan, where Congress leaders and workers gathered. Following the meeting, the workers took to the streets, raising slogans against Dr Bhagwat’s remark.
Bhanu and Raut condemned the statement, arguing that it insulted the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, including Bhagat Singh and Mahatma Gandhi. They stressed that the contributions of these leaders, who fought for India’s independence, should never be forgotten.
The protestors attempted to march to the RSS headquarters in Mahal but were halted by around 100 police officers. The workers were arrested and later released.
