Nagpur's Top Cop Dr. Ravinder Singal Vows to Transform City into Smart
Dr. Ravinder Singal, gradually settling into his role as Commissioner of Police, is spearheading initiatives aimed at making Nagpur a smarter and safer city. Addressing the media at the 'Meet-the-Press' program held at Nagpur Press Club, Dr. Singal outlined his plans to tackle various challenges facing the city while prioritizing citizen welfare and law enforcement.
Acknowledging the pressing issue of cybercrimes, Dr. Singal emphasized the importance of sensitizing police personnel and providing them with training on different software tools to combat evolving cyber threats effectively. He underscored the need for proactive measures to address the rising incidents of land grabbing, economic crimes, and financial frauds, ensuring that all such cases would be diligently investigated and resolved.
In response to the growing traffic congestion in Nagpur, Dr. Singal assured coordinated efforts with various stakeholders, including Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nagpur Smart & Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd, PWD, and National Highway Authority of India, to enhance traffic management strategies.
Furthermore, Dr. Singal highlighted the imperative to strengthen the Anti-Narcotic Cell to combat the drug menace among youngsters. He issued a stern warning to establishments serving as hubs for drug activities, emphasizing the enforcement of stringent measures and the preservation of CCTV footage for police scrutiny.
Taking a firm stance against criminals, Dr. Singal affirmed the initiation of stern actions, including the detention of offenders under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act. Additionally, he cautioned e-commerce platforms facilitating the illegal sale of weapons online, signaling forthcoming crackdowns on such unlawful activities.
With the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, Dr. Singal assured heightened security measures and increased surveillance in sensitive areas to uphold public safety and deter any potential threats. Strengthened patrolling efforts have already been implemented to thwart street crimes and ensure the safety of citizens.
